Public Information Officer

Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for an Public Information Officer position. Applications will be screened after the following filing deadlines at 5PM:

This class is the journey level in the Public Information Officer series. Incumbents in this class are responsible for developing and implementing public information, media relations, and communication programs, and supporting SacSewer wide public information, media relations and communications programs. Incumbents perform a variety of professional media relations, public information, and communications work. 

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

AND

Two (2) years of full-time paid experience in a position equivalent to the SacSewer Public Information Specialist classification, providing technical support in a public relations or communications program, which included the dissemination of information to internal and/or external audiences through various communications channels. Examples of qualifying experience include communications and outreach program work, graphic design, web page development, and/or developing and writing materials for use in print and electronic media.

Note: If the bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university has major course work in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Public or Business Administration, the experience requirement is reduced by one (1) year.
