Position Summary
The Staff Accountant (Entry Level) supports the Accounting Department in daily financial operations, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reporting. This role assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes, ensuring that financial transactions are accurate, timely, and in compliance with company policies. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Accounting Manager to maintain organized financial records and contribute to the efficiency and integrity of Sachs Peanuts' financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and enter journal entries for routine transactions such as accruals, payroll, and expense allocations.
· Assist with daily accounts payable and accounts receivable processing and reconciliations.
· Support the month-end and year-end close processes by reconciling accounts and verifying supporting documentation.
· Maintain and organize financial records and documentation for audits and internal reviews.
· Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and intercompany transactions.
· Assist in preparing reports and summaries for management, including budget-to-actual comparisons and cost analyses.
· Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy and appropriate approvals.
· Monitor fixed assets and assist with depreciation schedules and asset tagging.
· Help maintain inventory valuation and cost accounting records related to raw materials, production, and finished goods.
· Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and senior staff to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
· Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
· Identify and recommend improvements to accounting procedures and systems.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or management.
Qualifications / Required Competencies
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
· 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship or manufacturing exposure preferred).
· Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).
· Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
· Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
· Familiarity with manufacturing or agricultural accounting is a plus.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
· Work performed primarily in an office environment with frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
· Occasional walking through production or warehouse areas to verify inventory or cost data.
· Regular sitting, typing, and document handling required.
· Normal weekday hours; occasional extended hours during closing or audit periods.

Pay: $45, $50,000.00 per year
