The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting and close processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management
Maintain and update the general ledger by recording daily financial transactions, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Account Reconciliations
Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Financial Reporting
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Month-End & Year-End Close
Lead or support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and prepayments, and ensuring timely completion of all close tasks.
- Audit & Tax Support
Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for internal and external audits, and support tax preparation processes by gathering and organizing required financial data.
- Compliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and help identify opportunities for process improvements.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of accounting experience preferred; experience with general ledger functions and financial reporting is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, or NetSuite
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Annual Salary $50,000 plus quarterly bonus potential
