Job Title: Fraud Investigator (Contract)
Location: Columbus, OH (100% onsite initially)
Duration: 3–6 months
Pay Rate: $24–$26 per hour (W2)
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Fraud Investigator to support financial crime investigations within a banking environment. This role involves analyzing account activity, identifying suspicious transactions, and preparing detailed reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations on potentially fraudulent or suspicious account activity across consumer and commercial products
- Analyze transaction patterns to identify unusual or high-risk behavior
- Prepare clear, accurate, and complete Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when required
- Maintain thorough and well-documented case notes in a case management system
- Review various financial products including deposit accounts, loans, credit/debit cards, and related services
- Communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, including AML and BSA guidelines
- Meet established deadlines and service level agreements for case completion
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fraud investigations or financial crime analysis
- Experience writing or reviewing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Background in banking, financial services, accounting, or auditing
- Familiarity with AML, BSA, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience working with case management systems
Work Environment & Training
- Fully onsite role during initial training and onboarding period
- Approximately 4 weeks of training with strict attendance requirements
- Day shift schedule; exact hours may be subject to change
