Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and passionate Line Cook to join our culinary team and help deliver exceptional dining experiences in a fast-paced upscale casual Italian restaurant. The ideal candidate will have strong cooking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently during high-volume service while maintaining quality and consistency.
The Line Cook works under the direction of the Head Chef and alongside the kitchen team to ensure every guest receives an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, works well under pressure, and takes pride in maintaining high culinary and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Set up, stock, and maintain assigned kitchen stations before, during, and after service.
- Execute food preparation and plating with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail during dinner service.
- Assist with daily prep work including chopping, portioning, sauce preparation, and ingredient organization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in accordance with food safety and health department standards.
- Follow proper food handling, labeling, dating, and storage procedures, including FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Communicate effectively with the Head Chef and kitchen team to support efficient service and kitchen operations.
- Monitor product quality and notify kitchen leadership of inventory shortages, waste concerns, or equipment issues.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and organizing deliveries and inventory.
- Support catering events, private dinners, and special functions as needed.
- Complete opening and closing duties, including cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas.
- Maintain a professional attitude and contribute positively to a team-oriented work environment.
- Willingness to assist in other back-of-house positions, including dishwashing and general kitchen support, as needed to support daily operations and team success.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Cook in a restaurant environment preferred.
- Experience in Italian cuisine or upscale casual dining is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions consistently.
- Dependable work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work Friday and Saturday evenings is a must. Tuesday through Thursday evenings is a plus.
- Formal culinary training or certification is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
