Ross-Simons, America’s Favorite Jeweler and a division of Luxury Brand Holdings, is seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant (with the potential to transition to permanent) for our Cranston, RI office. The position will support our fast-paced Accounting team during a critical period. This role plays a hands-on part in month-end close, daily/weekly reporting, and operational accounting activities that keep the business running smoothly.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Accounting
- Performs day-to-day general accounting activities: journal entries, account reconciliations, to ensure compliance with established accounting policies, practices and procedures
- Complete month-end closing activities such as preparing and reviewing reconciliations and journal entries related to cash, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and other areas
- Perform financial analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts to support business
Financial Reporting
- Prepare weekly sales reporting that highlights performance trends, calls out key variances, and gives leadership timely insight into revenue results
- Maintain the weekly payment forecast to support short-term cash planning and ensure upcoming disbursements are clearly anticipated
- Deliver daily cash reporting and cash flow projections to support liquidity management and provide an accurate, up-to-date view of the company’s cash position
Experience and Required Qualifications
- A successful candidate must have a BS degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive experience in a fast-paced accounting department
- The candidate should be a quick learner, have strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities, and be an independent thinker with a proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- The candidate should be able to interact and communicate effectively at all levels across an organization and to interface with and work with multiple disciplines
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- The candidate should be detailed and deadline-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with varying priorities with a strong willingness to learn new things
- The candidate should possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Great Plains (Dynamics GP) is preferred, but not required
