St. John Paul II Academy, a Catholic school serving students in grades 6–12 in Corpus Christi, Texas, seeks a detail-oriented and mission-driven Accounting Clerk to support the day-to-day financial and operational functions of the Academy. This role is essential to the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of the school’s financial operations and plays a key part in ensuring responsible stewardship of all resources in support of the Academy’s mission.
The Accounting Clerk supports the financial operations of the Academy through accurate processing, recordkeeping, and system management. Working under the direction of the Finance & Operations Manager, this role ensures that financial transactions are executed properly, documentation is complete, and systems run smoothly.
This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to excellence in both financial and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and reconcile deposits and maintain detailed financial records
- Enter and manage financial data in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, FACTS)
- Support tuition processing, including billing, payment tracking, and family communication
- Reconcile payment platforms (FACTS, Stripe, TEFA) to ensure accurate reporting
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for all financial transactions
- Assist in preparing financial data for reports, audits, and budget processes
- Support operational systems, including event payments and administrative workflows
- Assist with HR administrative processes, including onboarding documentation and recordkeeping
- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or financial administration
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial recordkeeping
- Familiarity with financial systems such as QuickBooks, FACTS, Stripe, or similar platforms preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Valid Texas driver's license required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Additional Requirements:
- Must submit to employment required screenings including a criminal history background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening
- Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources
- Position requires adherence to Diocesan policies and procedures
