Our client, a highly regarded, ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) family office headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Tax Associate. This is a unique opportunity to join an established, multi-generational organization. As part of this in-house tax team, the Tax Associate will support the Tax Directors in the preparation, planning, and oversight of all tax-related functions for the family and affiliated entities.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the income tax compliance process for all U.S. federal, state, local, and international filings
- Coordinate with external tax service providers and monitor tax calendar deadlines to ensure timely filing
- Assist in gathering data and preparing documentation for a range of tax returns, including:
- Individual (1040, 1040-NR), Partnership (1065), C-Corp (1120), S-Corp (1120S), Trust (1041), Gift (709)
- Provide support for foreign disclosures and filings (8858, 8865, 8621, 5471, 5472, 3520)
- Maintain books and financial records for foreign-owned U.S. entities
- Assist with tax projections, planning strategies, and ongoing compliance matters
- Track and record all tax payments and ensure accuracy in budgeted cash flows
- Review general ledgers for accuracy of tax-related transactions
- Conduct research on prospective transactions, charitable strategies, and complex tax scenarios
- Support responses to IRS/state notices and audit-related documentation
- Assist with the drafting of technical memos as needed
- Remain current on relevant tax laws, regulations, and industry practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MST or CPA strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in tax/accounting, preferably with HNW clients in a public accounting firm or family office
- Exposure to international tax issues is a plus
- Strong foundation in U.S. tax compliance and technical tax concepts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with QuickBooks is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Professional, discreet, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic
