Billing Clerk

We are looking for an experienced Billing Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Oakdale, Pennsylvania. This role involves managing payment processing and reconciliation tasks while adhering to established billing practices and payer guidelines. Candidates should have a strong background in medical billing and excellent organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.

Responsibilities:
• Process and reconcile payments for assigned accounts, including transfers, adjustments, and refunds.
• Accurately post payments to the designated billing systems and ensure batch balances are maintained.
• Record and monitor daily cash posting activities to maintain accurate logs.
• Verify and balance daily cash sheets to ensure financial accuracy.
• Collaborate with team members to meet quality assurance and performance benchmarks.
• Utilize patient accounting systems to manage third-party billing and collections.
• Address and resolve discrepancies related to payment postings in a timely manner.
• Apply knowledge of payer reimbursement guidelines and medical billing practices to ensure compliance.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve billing issues.
• High school diploma or equivalent education required.
• Proven experience in cash handling, payment posting, and reading payment statements.
• Familiarity with medical billing practices, including ICD-9, CPT-4 codes, and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of third-party payer guidelines and reimbursement practices preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills to meet performance standards.
