Position Summary

The Emergency Department Technician (ER Tech) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role assists with patient care, activities of daily living, and departmental support functions to help ensure safe, compassionate, and efficient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the -American Heart Association or Red Cross required.

Candidates serving in a CNA role must possess a current Louisiana Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

Previous Emergency Department Technician experience preferred.

Previous hospital, emergency department, or healthcare experience preferred.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Ability to follow department policies, procedures, and standards with minimal supervision.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Emotional maturity and the ability to function effectively under stress.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of licensed nursing staff.

Obtain and document vital signs.

Assist patients with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and other activities of daily living.

Assist with patient ambulation, transfers, positioning, and mobility needs.

Support patient comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the Emergency Department visit.

Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff.

Assist with stocking supplies, preparing patient care areas, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Support efficient patient flow and daily department operations.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required.

-Observe professional ethics and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient, family, medical, financial, and employment information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and -Riverside Medical Center policies.

Follow accepted patient safety practices and organizational safety policies.

Report safety concerns and initiate appropriate action when necessary.

Participate in required safety and educational programs.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
