CNC Programmer β 5-Axis Manufacturing (Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support advanced manufacturing operations by developing, validating, and optimizing CNC programs for complex precision components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Siemens NX CAM, 5-axis machining, Vericut, and CNC process development in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or equivalent CAM software for multi-axis milling, grinding, and EDM operations.
- Verify CNC programs using Vericut or similar CNC simulation software prior to shop floor release.
- Incorporate Renishaw probing cycles for part validation, process verification, and error detection.
- Create CNC programs in accordance with established machining standards and qualified process parameters.
- Provide CNC programming support to Manufacturing Engineering and assist with operator training during machine startups, rebuilds, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues while providing daily support to shop floor operations.
- Support tooling and fixturing implementation for CNC machining processes.
- Develop and maintain workstation instructions and process documentation for CNC operations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while driving process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience programming CNC machines using Siemens NX CAM or equivalent CAM software.
- Experience generating CNC programs for multi-axis milling, grinding, and/or EDM operations.
- Experience verifying CNC programs using Vericut or comparable CNC simulation software.
- Knowledge of Renishaw probing cycles, macro programming, variable-based programming, and Closed Loop Machining (CLM).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in CNC manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or similar CAM systems.
- Experience with Okuma MU10000 or comparable large-format CNC machining centers.
- Hands-on machining experience with the ability to set up and validate complex first-piece programs.
- Experience maintaining tight tolerances on large precision-machined components where thermal stability, work hardening, and part deflection are critical.
- Experience machining nickel-based superalloys such as Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, or similar materials used in aerospace or heavy industrial applications.
- Strong understanding of machine controls, including Haas and Okuma.
- Solid shop mathematics skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
