Shifts & Coverage
● Daily health calls after breakfast and after dinner
● Rotating on-call coverage (approximately 2 nights per week)
● No overnight wake shifts unless an emergency occurs

The Camp Nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of campers and staff
throughout the session. This position combines clinical responsibility with the unique pace and
community of a residential summer camp.

Key Responsibilities
● Respond to medical needs and emergencies as part of the on-site medical team
● Provide care during scheduled health call times:
○ Brief assessments
○ Documentation
○ Treatment and follow-up
○ Parent communication when appropriate
● Assist with medication administration before most meals and at bedtime
● Respond to medical needs and emergencies as part of the on-site medical team
● Provide care during scheduled health call times:

○ Parent communication when appropriate
● Assist with medication administration before most meals and at bedtime
● Consult with other nursing staff regarding non-emergency concerns such as minor
injuries or illness
● Participate in a rotating on-call schedule:
○ Typically two nights per week
○ Available nightly if needed for emergencies

Minimum Requirements
● Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania or a valid compact
RN license
● Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in one or more of the following:
○ Pediatrics
○ School nursing
○ Camp nursing
○ Other clinical roles involving direct care of children
● Comfort working independently in a residential setting
● Strong communication skills, including parent communication when appropriate
● Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania or a valid compact

● Comfort working independently in a residential setting

Life at Camp
● Private living space with private bathroom
● Bedding and towels available if needed
● Walkie-talkie provided for in-camp communication
● Free to leave camp grounds during the week with notice
● Relaxation time and time away from the health center is encouraged
● Occasional daytime coverage blocks may be assigned based on staffing needs
