School Nurse (Full-Time)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Full-Time School Nurse to join our highly respected, 10-month Practical Nursing Program located in Hudson Falls, NY. This role is perfect for an experienced RN who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and leading adult learners toward successful entry into the nursing profession.

Schedule, Compensation & Program Structure

• Compensation: $38.68 per hour (union rate)
• Schedule: From Mon to Wed - 6:45am - 3:45pm from Thur to Fri 7:45Am - 2:45Pm
• Total Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time instructional schedule)
• Program Length: Late August through end of June (10-month academic year)
• Summer: Full summer break — July & early August off
• Retirement: Eligible for the New York State retirement pension system
• Position Type: Full-time, annual rehire under union contract

This role offers the stability of a school-year schedule with the fulfillment of teaching and clinical education.

Primary Responsibilities

• Foster a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment aligned with NYS Office of Professions standards and program curriculum.
• Serve as a professional role model in communication, critical thinking, and clinical judgment.
• Plan and deliver weekly classroom, lab, and/or clinical instruction using the NYS-approved curriculum and learning objectives.
• Provide consistent student evaluations, including weekly assessments, observations, and timely, constructive feedback.
• Guide students through the development of essential skills required for Practical Nursing, including professional behavior, patient care, and clinical reasoning.
• Maintain current, evidence-based nursing knowledge through ongoing professional development.
• Oversee and support students during clinical instruction, ensuring they remain engaged, safe, and successful in meeting competencies.
• Collaborate with clinical sites to ensure learning objectives and facility standards are consistently met.

Qualifications

• Required: Active, unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license
• Minimum Education:
• • BSN required
• Associate-level nurses may be considered if currently enrolled in a BSN program and actively progressing (verification required)
• Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) or related field

Experience

• 3–5 years of recent clinical RN experience required
• Prior teaching or precepting experience (classroom or clinical) strongly preferred
  Experienced RNs with a passion for education are welcome—training and support are available

State & Organizational Requirements

Because this is an academic program regulated by New York State, candidates must meet all credentialing requirements, including:

• Fingerprinting
• Clear background check
• Updated immunizations
• Licensure verification
• Compliance with state teaching standards and onboarding processes
