Cost Accounting Manager

We are looking for a Cost Accounting Manager to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

This is a great opportunity for a manufacturing-minded accounting professional to lead costing and inventory accounting and help the business understand where its margins really come from, in a hybrid role based in Akron, OH.

Responsibilities

• Lead the standard cost process, including setting, reviewing, and updating standards
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and explain the drivers to operations and finance leaders
• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reserves, and month-end reconciliations
• Support the monthly close as it relates to cost of goods sold and inventory
• Build costing models to support pricing, quoting, and new product decisions
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to identify cost-saving and margin improvement opportunities
• Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory processes
• Strengthen internal controls around costing and inventory
• Manage, mentor, and develop cost accounting staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA a plus
• 5 years of accounting experience, including meaningful cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff
• Clear communicator who works comfortably with plant and operations teams
