We are looking for a Cost Accountant to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented accountant to dig into product costs and inventory and help the business see what drives profitability, in an onsite role based on the south side of Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
- Analyze actual-to-standard variances and report findings to management
- Reconcile inventory accounts and support month-end cost of goods sold entries
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and the resolution of discrepancies
- Prepare cost reports and analysis for operations and finance teams
- Review bills of material, routings, and overhead rates for accuracy
- Partner with Purchasing, Production, and Supply Chain to understand cost movements
- Contribute to the monthly close and support audit requests
- Look for ways to improve costing accuracy and streamline reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years of cost accounting experience
- Working knowledge of standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
- Experience in a manufacturing or production setting preferred
- Proficiency with ERP systems and strong Excel skills
- Careful, analytical approach with good communication skills
- Ability to work onsite on the south side of Columbus, OH
