We are representing a growing and people-first commercial General Contractor in the Greater San Diego area seeking an experienced HR Generalist or HR Specialist to support and strengthen their human resources function. Construction industry experience is a plus but not required what matters most is that you bring solid generalist HR knowledge, strong organizational skills, and familiarity with HR and project management platforms similar to ADP and Monday.com. Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Manage day-to-day HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and policy administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including California-specific labor regulations
- Maintain accurate employee data and HR documentation within ADP and internal platforms
- Support workers' compensation, leave of absence, and benefits administration
- Assist in developing, updating, and communicating HR policies and employee handbook content
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Support full-cycle recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer letters
- Coordinate new hire onboarding to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience from day one
- Partner with department managers to understand staffing needs and support hiring decisions
- Maintain applicant tracking and recruiting workflows within Monday.com or similar platforms
Employee Relations & Culture
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on HR-related questions and concerns
- Support performance management processes including reviews, improvement plans, and documentation
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture
- Assist in planning and coordinating employee recognition, events, and culture initiatives
HR Systems & Reporting
- Manage and optimize use of ADP for payroll coordination, benefits, and employee data
- Utilize Monday.com or similar project management and workflow platforms to track HR tasks, onboarding checklists, and department initiatives
- Generate HR reports and metrics to support leadership decision-making
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes through better use of technology
Project & Industry Experience
- Construction, Trades, or Field-Based Workforce HR Experience a Plus — Not Required
- California Labor Law Compliance (Wage & Hour, CFRA, FMLA, ADA)
- Multi-Location or Multi-Department HR Support
- High-Volume Onboarding & Recruiting Coordination
- Benefits Administration & Open Enrollment Support
Qualifications
- 3 years of HR Generalist or HR Specialist experience
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS platform required
- Experience with Monday.com or comparable workflow and project management tools strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing company environment with a hands-on approach
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

- Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 depending on experience
