We are representing a well-regarded civil engineering and land development firm seeking a motivated Civil Project Engineer to support and lead the technical delivery of land development and public infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Technical Production
- Prepare and review civil engineering plans, calculations, and specifications for land development and public infrastructure projects
- Design grading, drainage, street, sewer, water, and storm drain systems in compliance with agency standards
- Perform hydrology and hydraulic calculations, earthwork analysis, and utility coordination
- Develop NPDES/SWPPP and erosion control documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with CAD designers to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and agency-ready
Project Coordination & Delivery
- Assist Project Managers in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables across active projects
- Coordinate with subconsultants, contractors, and public agency plan checkers throughout design and permitting
- Prepare and respond to plan check comments from city, county, and utility agencies
- Support tentative and final map processing and entitlement coordination
- Attend client meetings, agency meetings, and site visits as needed
Construction Support
- Provide construction support including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals
- Perform site observations and document field conditions during construction
- Coordinate with contractors and inspectors to resolve design and field issues in a timely manner
Quality & Documentation
- Ensure all deliverables meet company quality standards and applicable agency requirements
- Maintain organized project files, correspondence logs, and permit tracking documentation
- Support project closeout including as-built coordination and agency acceptance
Project Experience Required
- Residential & Commercial Land Development
- Grading, Drainage & Earthwork Design
- Street, Sewer, Water & Storm Drain Improvements
- Hydrology & Hydraulic Analysis
- Public Agency Plan Check & Permitting
- NPDES / SWPPP & Erosion Control
- Projects ranging from $1M – $20M in construction value
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of civil engineering experience in land development and/or public infrastructure
- EIT certification required; PE licensure in progress or recently obtained preferred
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of local agency design standards, grading ordinances, and utility requirements
- Strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across concurrent projects
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, agencies, and contractors
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
