Job Description
The HSE Specialist will report to the field HSE supervisor and is responsible for supporting field operations by promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs. This role works closely with operations personnel to identify risks, prevent incidents, and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day HSE support to field operations, including drilling, completions, and production activities
- Conduct routine field inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards
- Support development and implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and programs
- Deliver safety meetings, orientations, and training sessions for employees and contractors
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure alignment with company expectations
- Assist with environmental compliance efforts, including emissions monitoring and reporting (e.g., OOOO compliance)
- Perform or coordinate inspections such as fire extinguisher checks and other safety-critical equipment
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, reports, and records
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and engagement with field personnel
- High School Diploma / GED
- Relevant certifications such as OHST, CHST, or equivalent are preferred
- 5 years of HSE experience in oil & gas or similar industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with monitoring emissions and OGI (Optical Gas Imaging) is a plus
- OGI Level 1 Thermographer certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations
