Job Title: Maintenance Specialist
Location: On-site – Customer Facility Spartanburg SC
Hours: 3rd Shift (9pm to 6am)
Position Summary
Rhino Tool House is seeking two Maintenance Specialists to support the CUSTOMER FACILITY digitally enabled manufacturing system. These full-time, on-site roles will play a key part in implementing Risk and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RRCM) and optimizing the performance of Networked Assembly Workstations (NAWS)
The Maintenance Specialists will be responsible for performing proactive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks on tools, controllers, hoists, articulating arms, and related digital assets within the facility defined system boundaries, ensuring safety, optimal uptime, data accuracy, and process reliability in this Industry 4.0 environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RRCM) Implementation
- Learn and apply RRCM methodology to identify functions, functional failures, failure modes, failure effects, risks, and failure consequences for all tools and assets within networked assembly workstations.
- Define and execute proactive tasks (preventive and predictive) and default actions (failure-finding, redesign, or no-scheduled maintenance).
- Develop and execute on-condition tasks such as torque verification, tool performance trending, and calibration under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
- Document findings and recommended improvements in standardized RRCM and ISO templates.
2. Digital Factory System Support
- Operate within the facility digital factory boundaries—integrating with systems such as MES, ERP, PLM, and IIoT networks.
- Maintain networked assembly assets including DC tools, controllers, systems, wrenches, torque arms, and lift assists.
- Support connectivity between tools, controllers, MES stations, and quality data systems (Ethernet and Wi-Fi).
- Utilize digital dashboards and analytics for condition monitoring, process optimization, and failure prevention.
3. Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct on-site diagnostics and performance analysis using TorqueNet data and analytics.
- Perform root cause analysis on tool and system failures and recommend engineering or process changes to prevent recurrence.
- Support machine capability and process capability testing (Cmk, Cpk) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) as part of ongoing quality assurance.
- Collaborate with customer engineering and maintenance teams to improve uptime, reduce maintenance costs, and extend asset life.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain detailed ISO-formatted documentation including procedures, work instructions, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all activities align with the Customer Facility SAP’s quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Record actions from line calls, maintenance actions, inventor movement, shipping, receiving, calibration, machine capability testing, and performance metrics.
- Participate in monthly RCM Review Group (RCMRG) meetings and Management Reviews with SAP leadership.
5. Customer & Team Engagement
- Serve as the on-site technical liaison between Rhino Tool House Service and Customer Facility.
- Support both Shift 1 and Shift 3 operations, ensuring continuous coverage and responsive maintenance support.
- Communicate findings, trends, and improvement recommendations clearly to both plant and Rhino management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with SAP’s engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or engineering preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, calibration, or field service within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with IIoT networks, MES/ERP integration, and connected tools preferred.
- Experience performing ISO 17025-calibrations and using RCM methodologies highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing DC electric tools, torque systems, controllers, articulating arms, and hoists.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and network diagrams.
- Proficient in data analysis, condition monitoring, and use of diagnostic software.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems; experience with IndySoft, or similar software a plus.
