Summary
Welder I employees perform basic welding operations under close supervision. This entry-level role focuses on developing fundamental welding skills, learning quality standards, and safely supporting production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic welding tasks using MIG, TIG, or stick processes as trained
- Prepare materials by cleaning, grinding, and fitting components
- Follow blueprints, work instructions, and weld symbols at a basic level
- Inspect completed welds for defects and compliance with specifications
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all safety requirements
- Identify and report issues with materials or equipment
- Support higher-level welders with preparation and setup tasks
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, welding certification preferred
- 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or industrial environment
- Proficient in MIC and TIG welding, welding equipment and techniques
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to work safely around hot materials, machinery, and sparks
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. asrequired.
- Work in environments with heat, sparks, noise, and fumes, with proper PPE provided.
