Role:
- Maintain workstation/server infrastructure standards. Deploy infrastructure software to clients. Monitor devices for deviation and address issues promptly and appropriately. Administer and maintain tools for software delivery and remote management.
- Administer and deploy infrastructure software to clients, including new builds, master files, upgrades, and patches. Record, verify, and coordinate customer requests to ensure appropriate distribution. Establish and follow all related processes, such as email notifications and alerts.
- Install, configure, and maintain infrastructure software in support of business processing requirements. Develop, compile, test, debug, document, and maintain custom scripts and utilities. Create comprehensive test plans based on configurations and other specifications. Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Perform monitoring/maintenance activities of the workstation/server environment and tune the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Find and troubleshoot problems before they become issues to the user, and act as a higher-level support for help desk for certain problems. May consult with senior peers on certain projects.
- Develop and maintain custom integration solutions. Establish a standard configuration for software packages. Manage/maintain administrative tools for software delivery and remote management.
- Ensure continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with the organization’s established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive infrastructure software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Maintain growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories.
Skills:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with UNIX-based systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with system users to identify, explain, and resolve technical issues.
- Solid understanding of client/server architecture to diagnose and resolve system operation problems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Required Software and Tools:
- Strong understanding of relevant operating systems and server hardware/software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Software and Tools:
- Experience with Citrix environments
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus two (2) years of relevant work experience; or
- Four (4) years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Work Experience:
- Two (2) years of hands-on experience supporting workstations, servers, and/or applications, including both hardware and software troubleshooting.
