What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workstation Server Administrator position at Core Technology Solutions?
Our client is seeking to hire a Workstation Server Administrator for a long-term contract position in Columbia SC! You will work on a team that is focused on implementing innovative solutions by leveraging automation and creating no-touch systems. This team manages both local and remote services, including Citrix, VDI, VPN, Intune, network printers, and physical workstations, handle global management for PC and Citrix configurations to ensure devices function efficiently, securely, and in line with company standards.
This is a hybrid position in Columbia SC. Candidates need to be local or within a comfortable commuting distance and able to work onsite in the office in Columbia, SC 4-5 days per week.

What you will do in this role:
Maintain workstation/server infrastructure standards. Deploy infrastructure software to clients. Monitor devices for deviation and address issues promptly and appropriately. Administer and maintain tools for software delivery and remote management.
- Attend daily standups and discuss what was accomplished yesterday, task for the day, and roadblocks.
- Review Azure Boards daily for incoming work or issues for the day.
- Work on any image build updates that as needed.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, technical support for the image build process as needed to Workstation Support teams.
- Configure, update, and document build standards as needed for successful image builds for all WSS sites each month leveraging Sysprep process and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) or Intune with Autopilot.
- Document and maintain hardware seed units in the imaging lab and leverage them for testing as needed.
- Attend weekly Workstation Hardware Evaluation team meetings.
- Document configurations and standards with assistance of technology owner so that workstation support teams can reference similar issues and improve resolution time.
- May perform administrative tasks such as reporting, ordering replacement parts, and tracking status/inventory of items in the imaging lab.
- Keeps apprised of new technologies related to workstation imaging process and Windows Operating System roadmaps.
- Research and keeps abreast of current hardware standards and stay current with hardware performance testing tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT or related degree OR additional years of working experience
- 2 years of application, workstation, server and/or application support experience to include software and hardware troubleshooting.
- A Certification OR higher-level CompTIA certification is Required.
- High technical knowledge Microsoft Windows OS
- High technical depth of PC hardware and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Printer hardware and troubleshooting knowledge.
Preferred Skills:
- PowerShell or some scripting knowledge.
- Some concept of automation.
- Documentation and technical writing skills.
- Some concept of software and image deployment tools (MDT, SCCM/ECD, Intune, Big Fix)
