This is a role posted by Reval Recruiting on behalf of a client
Design Engineer
Location: New York, NY
This role is posted on behalf of the following client: A Series A-funded, profitable developer tooling startup headquartered in New York (with a San Francisco office) that has grown ~8x in ARR. The company is building a product engineers use daily, with a strong emphasis on craft, speed, and tackling hard problems. The team operates with high ownership and direct customer feedback loops.
Role Overview
A Design / Micro-Interaction Engineer is needed to own the craft and feel of a developer platform across product and web. This is not a handoff role—end-to-end ownership is expected across information architecture, core product flows, micro-interactions, and a full rebrand rollout, working closely with the design lead and a co-founder.
What You'll Do
- Own design and front-end implementation of core product flows end-to-end, including micro-interactions and polish.
- Lead a rebrand rollout across the marketing website and in-product experience, partnering closely with design leadership and a co-founder.
- Define information architecture, design core object flows, talk directly with customers, and drive work in two-week cycles with autonomy to propose and ship projects.
Who You Are
- 5 years of design and/or design engineering experience with a portfolio demonstrating strong craft, curiosity, and high-quality execution.
- Highly fluent in Figma with fast iteration ability, and excited to implement designs in production (not only create mockups).
- Collaborative, low-ego, and opinionated with strong communication skills; genuinely interested in developer tooling; AI-native approach to moving quickly; based in or willing to relocate to New York for fully in-person work (5 days/week).
