What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Vice President of Construction and Capital Projects position at RETS Associates?
RETS Associates is representing Claremont McKenna College in the search for an Associate Vice President for Construction Management & Capital Projects to roll up their sleeves and lead one of the most exciting campus transformation projects in Southern California.
CMC — one of the nation's most selective liberal arts colleges — is executing a master plan that will double its campus from 75 to 150 acres, with new academic buildings, student housing, athletic facilities, and major infrastructure all in the pipeline. This is a rare chance to leave a lasting physical mark on a world-class institution.
This is a hands-on senior leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable presenting to a Board of Trustees and walking a job site. You'll report directly to the EVP/COO and own the full lifecycle of CMC's capital construction program.
Core Responsibilities:
- Directly manage the Construction Management & Capital Projects team day-to-day
- Drive all phases of capital projects from early planning and design through construction and final occupancy
- Get into the details on project budgets, contracts, schedules, and contractor relationships
- Prepare materials, reports, and presentations for the Board of Trustees
- Personally coordinate with city, county, and regional agencies on permitting and development agreements
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field
- 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience leading large-scale construction or capital programs
- A builder at heart — with a track record of delivering complex institutional projects on time and on budget
- Higher education or similar experience is strongly preferred
- Strong communicator who can engage credibly at every level, from contractors to trustees
Salary : $190,000 - $230,000
