ResourceTek is the Human Capital subsidiary of an ENR-ranked, multi-discipline engineering firm providing technical services to industry and government across engineering, construction, and a broad range of technical disciplines.
We are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to support greenfield and brownfield industrial and civil construction projects for our client—a leading steel manufacturer and supplier to the oil and gas industry. This position will be based in Toronto, Canada, and will work directly with the client’s construction project management team and vendors to provide leadership and administrative oversight.
Responsibilities
- Supervise infrastructure expansion projects including buildings, concrete foundations, and underground utilities.
- Develop technical specifications for heavy construction scopes (e.g., industrial steel structures, foundations, roads, and underground utilities).
- Perform technical reviews and analyses of contractor proposals.
- Coordinate and respond to RFIs; review and approve submittals.
- Oversee coordination among civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines.
- Manage proposed change orders and prepare recommendations for upper management.
- Apply knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire detection/suppression, and electrical systems.
- Conduct regular site meetings, document comprehensive meeting minutes, and report progress to stakeholders.
- Follow up with suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and owners to ensure timely communication and execution.
- Analyze drawings, blueprints, survey reports, maps, and topographical data to plan projects effectively.
- Estimate materials, equipment, and labor to determine project costs.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–10 years of experience managing industrial or heavy infrastructure construction projects (not commercial or residential).
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, and Primavera.
- Excellent English communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience reading and interpreting civil, electrical, architectural, plumbing, and fire protection drawings.
- Proficient in CAD and other design and data analysis tools.
- Proven ability to identify and solve complex problems.
