About the Role
We are conducting a highly confidential search for an experienced Controller to join a well-established manufacturing company in Walled Lake, MI. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing accounting and experience working with large retail clients such as Walmart, Lowe’s, or other big-box retailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes and prepare accurate financial statements
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cost accounting processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Lead financial reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to optimize cost structures
- Manage audits and liaise with external auditors
- Implement and maintain ERP systems; SAP Business One experience strongly preferred
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- Experience working with big-box retailers (Walmart, Lowe’s, etc.) is a strong plus
- Proficiency in SAP Business One or similar ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial analysis
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
