JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Lab Technician will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and inspections to ensure that our fasteners meet established quality standards and specifications. This role involves working closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring that products meet customer expectations.
The Lab Tech will conduct routine testing of fasteners and materials, including physical and chemical tests, using various testing equipment and techniques. The Lab Tech will utilize a variety of laboratory equipment in order to perform tests on finished product, raw materials and fasteners in different stages of completion. The Quality Lab Technician will also record, analyze, and interpret test results and maintain accurate documentation of test procedures, results and any deviations from standards.

The Quality Lab Technician will also record, analyze, and interpret test results and maintain accurate documentation of test procedures, results and any deviations from standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform tests on parts based upon standards found on the lab evaluation form.
- Cut parts on the saw.
- Mount and polish samples.
- Responsible for grain flow preparation with acid.
- Take pictures with a Stereoscope / Nikon microscope.
- Trace parts to blueprint
- Perform induction / micro-hardness testing.
- Conduct thread lap checks.
- Perform up-set testing.
- Perform spectrometer / chemical analysis / wire audits.
- Calibrate gauges on the shop floor / use of CAQ.
- Utilize SAP / Safe-Launch.
- Measure parts with different gauges.
- Conduct floor audits.
- Crosstrain in the Final Lab.
- Identify any non-conforming parts and report any non-conformance to his or her immediate supervisor.
- Prepare and review technical reports, quality records, and documentation related to testing and inspection; make sure all paperwork is filled out correctly.
- Participate in quality review meetings as needed.
- Interact with other departments for collection, test results, and paperwork.
- Perform housekeeping as necessary.
- May assist in employee training programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Two (2) years of college, or experience in an industrial / manufacturing lab environment, or a combination of both.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and testing methods. Familiarity with automotive components and industry standards is a plus.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer experience required.
- Due to the precision and type of equipment involved, requires a steady hand and a good eye to prevent damage to machines or injury to self.
