Qualifying Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
The Qualifying Supervisor supervises all shift employees and ensures that all established company policies, rules, regulations and procedures are followed on assigned shift including policies regarding housekeeping standards. This key person is in charge of overseeing the shift production operations, and as such must be able to see the “big picture” at all times. The Supervisor acts as liaison between directly reporting shift employees and the department manager, as well as between other company departments as necessary.
A keen awareness of the safety of all employees and the cost of poor quality is necessary to be successful in this role. The Supervisor must keep the obligation of not only maintaining, but consistently improving departmental productivity, equipment efficiency, and all other company goals in the forefront of their mind throughout the shift and lead his/her team to also do the same.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environment policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting incidents and/or other safety and environment hazards, wearing all required PPE and requiring others to do the same.
- Supervises all personnel and operations on assigned shift.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
- Reports any hindrance to accomplishing production goals caused by processes or equipment.
- Distributes tasks and equipment assignments for optimal production operation to employees on the shift
- Communicates written and verbal reports to the oncoming supervisor as required to ensure the successful continuous operation of the department.
- Verifies correct identification and labeling of product, compliance of pallet quality and maintains a high standard of housekeeping throughout the department.
- Oversees performance related activities within the department and shift such as employee reviews, training administration requests, and any other personnel related tasks as necessary.
- Facilitates recognition and disciplinary actions and communicates with the Department Manager and Human Resources.
- Facilitates a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving within the shift, and across all 3 shifts.
- Completes reports and audits required of the shift, including but not limited to layered workplace audits and 5S audits.
- Assists in troubleshooting and collaborative solving of production problems.
- Ability to manage people with a mindset of respect and transparency to constructively and proactively resolve personnel conflicts.
- Minimum high school diploma
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and lead a team of up to 70 employees
- Be proactive, self-directed, motivated, and a true team player
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees on all levels of the organization
- Valid driver’s license
- Up to date forklift driver’s certification preferred
- Chemicals, oils, acids, sprays, carbon monoxide, coolants and solvents.
- Noise – heavy machinery, vibratory bowls, air feed systems etc.– if in plant.
- Added responsibility as outlined in the Environmental Management System.
