Job Summary
The Nurse Manager – Behavioral Health is responsible for the overall operations, clinical management, and leadership of the psychiatric unit. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and clinical management of the behavioral health unit
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards (DOH, JCAHO, OMH)
- Lead performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities
- Monitor admissions, discharges, and patient care planning
- Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams
- Manage staffing, budgeting, and administrative functions
- Maintain accurate reporting and regulatory documentation
- Support patient care standards, safety, and satisfaction initiatives
Required Qualifications
- MUST HAVE: Experience managing a psychiatric unit in a hospital setting
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of psychiatric clinical experience
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership/management role
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and quality improvement processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Education & Certifications
- BSN required (Master’s preferred)
- Active RN License – New York State
- BLS & ACLS certifications required
- Crisis Management certification (PMCS/TRUST preferred)
Additional Requirements
