Position: Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health (Travel)

Job Type: Travel Contract

Duration: 14 Weeks

Shift: 5x8 Day Shift

Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours/Week (Mon-Fri)

Pay Range: ($79.31-$85.07)/hourly ($3,172.31-$3,402.71)

Job Summary

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily operation and clinical supervision of the staff in the Department of Nursing. This person is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of all activities within the Inpatient Service, in collaboration with the Director, to ensure quality patient care that meets regulatory agency standards and evidence-based clinical management.

• Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees.
• Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors, and other employees.
• Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Brookdale Hospital and its employees.
• Responsible for the implementation of the hospital’s policies and procedures
• Responsible for operations and management of the unit in collaboration with the Director.
• Has overall responsibility for the operation of the unit with all disciplines reporting to the Director.
• Coordinates all performance improvement activities so that it is truly an interdisciplinary process.
• Utilizes appropriate benchmarks.
• Assembles and prepares data relative to clinical activities, as well as other statistical and special reports
• Other essential functions as deemed necessary, such as budgeting, supply, and inventory maintenance.
• Responsible for operational leadership on a 24h basis.
• Oversees patient care area to ensure clinical needs & competencies are met.
• Provides administrative coverage for the Nursing Department as necessary.
• Participates in the system of continuing education to increase administrative and clinical knowledge and skills.
• Innovative and implements best care practices.

Required Qualifications:

• MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE MANAGING A PSYCH UNIT.
• Minimum five (5) years as a Registered Nurse required.
• Minimum of five (5) yrs clinical experience in psychiatry required.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a leadership role required.
• Critical thinking, math, and computer skills; works as a team player.

Education

• Master’s Degree in Nursing

Certifications & Licensure

• Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• Basic Life Support required.
• ACLS required.
• Crisis Management (PMCS, TRUST) required
