Position: Middle School Counselor
Reports To: Middle/High School Counseling Director
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Schedule: 52 Weeks (2 days/week in the summer)

Job Summary:
The Middle School Counselor develops, implements, and manages the middle school counseling program under the direction of the Middle/High School (MSHS) Counseling Director. This role provides academic, social-emotional, and personal support to students through individual counseling, small-group sessions, and classroom instruction. The counselor helps students create academic plans and develop skills that foster Christ-like character and academic excellence. Additionally, the Middle School Counselor plays a vital role in identifying and supporting students' mental health and overall well-being.

- Master’s degree in Education, School Counseling, and/or Counseling Psychology (preferred).
- ACSI Certification (or willingness to obtain and maintain).

- Strategic thinker with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Google Education Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Professional demeanor with a compassionate and service-oriented approach.
Essential Functions:
Counseling & Student Support
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students’ academic and emotional needs.
- Maintain confidential student records and counseling documentation in FACTS.
- Keep administration informed of student mental health concerns and at-risk behaviors.
- Provide referrals to external counseling services for students and families as needed.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community counseling service providers.
- Assist teachers with monitoring student progress and addressing academic challenges.
- Serve as a liaison between administration and faculty regarding student discipline, social-emotional development, and academic concerns.
Academic Planning & Student Learning Services
- Assist students in creating academic plans and tracking progress toward high school readiness.
- Develop and oversee student accommodation plans in coordination with Student Learning Services.
- Support Student Learning Services and admission processes at the middle school level.
- Identify and arrange credit recovery options for middle school students.
- Oversee the Middle/High School Academic Success program.
- Assist in determining academic program offerings and contribute to the creation of the master teacher schedule.
- Facilitate standardized testing, including ASVAB, PSAT, PreACT, ACT, and AP exams.
Student Supervision & School Culture
- Assist administration with student disciplinary matters.
- Supervise students during the school day to ensure a safe and structured environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Teach classes as needed.
- Assist with planning and supervising special events, field trips, and school activities.
- Maintain flexibility and a collaborative mindset to support the school’s mission and initiatives.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
- This is a safety-sensitive position; employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the school for extended periods.
- Lift and move materials (up to 25–30 lbs).
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to assist students and access resources.
- Clear verbal communication and hearing abilities for engaging with students and staff.
- Visual acuity to read and assess student records and materials.
