Position: Middle/High School Academic Counselor
Reports To: Director of Counseling and High School Principal
Schedule: 52 Weeks (2 days/week in the summer)

Job Summary
Rejoice Christian School seeks a Christ-centered Academic Counselor to serve students in grades 6–12. This role provides comprehensive academic advising, testing coordination, college and career readiness programming, and Advanced Placement (AP) coordination. The Academic Counselor partners with families, faculty, learning services, and administration to support students’ academic success, postsecondary planning, and spiritual growth in alignment with the mission, vision, and Portrait of a graduate of Rejoice Christian School. The Academic Counselor will promote a positive school culture through visibility, relationship-building, and engagement in student activities.
Required & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Preferred: M.Ed. in School Counseling with valid school counseling certification (or ability to obtain, if applicable)
Experience with secondary academic advising, testing coordination, and college admissions processes preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
Commitment to Christian education and the mission of Rejoice Christian School
Proficiency in Google Workspace and school SIS platforms
Job Duties
Academic Advising & Scheduling
Provide academic advising and course planning for students in grades 6–12
Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements
Support academic success plans and interventions as needed
College & Career Readiness
College & Career readiness programming
Coordinate dual credit programs and partnerships
Coordinate Tulsa Tech enrollment, communication, and compliance
Plan and host college and career fairs
Support NCAA and NAIA eligibility registration and compliance
Distribute and communicate scholarship opportunities to students and families
Testing & Assessment Coordination
Coordinate, administer, and interpret student assessments and serve as AP Coordinator
Physical and Safety Requirements:
This is a safety-sensitive position; employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the campus for extended periods.
Lift and move classroom materials (up to 25–30 lbs).
Bend, kneel, and reach to assist students or access materials.
Assist in conducting safety inspections, fire drills, lockdowns, and severe weather procedures to ensure a secure learning environment.
Monitor the campus to maintain a safe, structured, and Christ-centered atmosphere for students and staff.
Collaborate with faculty, administration, and security personnel to manage and mitigate potential risks.
