Electrical Technician

Position Summary
Reading Bakery Systems is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to support the assembly, wiring, integration, and testing of industrial bakery equipment and aftermarket systems. This role requires the ability to independently read, interpret, and execute electrical blueprints and schematics while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
This role is responsible for accurate electrical assembly, testing, and on-time completion of industrial equipment builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and execute electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
- Wire industrial control panels, enclosures, and machine-mounted components
- Perform point-to-point wiring of motors, sensors, drives, PLCs, and control devices
- Install conduit, cable tray, and structured routing systems
- Verify proper voltage, wiring integrity, and system functionality
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical systems during testing and startup
- Collaborate with engineering to resolve drawing discrepancies or field modifications
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, labeling, and documentation
- Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives within the department
- Follow all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
- Work overtime as needed to support production schedules and customer commitments

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience in industrial electrical assembly or controls
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints independently
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical components including relays, contactors, VFDs, motors, PLCs, and sensors
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and meggers
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of electrical safety standards
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or vocational training in Electrical Technology
- Experience with UL panel wiring standards
- Experience in industrial equipment manufacturing
- Familiarity with PLC systems and basic programming concepts
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work throughout the shift in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to safely use tools and equipment required for the role, lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and perform work activities that require movement, lifting, and positioning throughout the facility.
