Position Summary
Newfound Lake Inn is seeking a dependable and organized Prep Cook to support kitchen operations at Pasquaney Restaurant. The Prep Cook helps ensure the kitchen is ready for service by preparing ingredients, following recipes, maintaining proper food storage, and keeping work areas clean and organized.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment, takes pride in food preparation, and can work efficiently in a busy restaurant kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and kitchen requirements.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, marinades, and other ingredients as assigned.
- Measure and portion ingredients accurately to support consistent food quality.
- Label, date, and store prepared food properly in accordance with food safety standards.
- Monitor ingredient levels and notify management when supplies need replenishment.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary preparation areas.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries as needed.
- Support Line Cooks and other kitchen team members during busy service periods.
- Assist with kitchen opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred; candidates with a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
- Basic knife skills and familiarity with food preparation techniques preferred.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional restaurant kitchen with exposure to hot equipment, sharp tools, and varying temperatures. The role requires prolonged standing, repetitive food preparation tasks, and the ability to safely handle kitchen equipment and supplies.
