Job Summary:
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support the company’s goals and objectives. The HR Manager leads an HR team who is responsible for hiring and interviewing staff; administering pay, benefits, and leaves; and enforcing company policies and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Leads and enhances the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices.
· Partners with company leadership to align workforce plans with business goals.
· Supervises an HR Generalist and Recruiter and oversees company recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes. Augments HR staff responsibilities as necessary based on employment level demands.
· Select, develop and monitor effective talent acquisition strategies to attract qualified candidates.
· Promotes and preserves company values and traditions while championing company events and activities that strengthen company culture.
· Oversee worker’s compensation program and administer annual OSHA reporting.
· Monitor key HR metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
· Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate corrective action.
· Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
· Oversees HR budget and HR vendor relationships.
· Trains and counsels company managers by facilitating new hire training and providing ongoing support as it relates to coaching performance, interviewing new team members, and employee relations concerns.
· Manage compensation programs, salary administration, and market benchmarking.
· Oversees the annual employee performance appraisal process and administers the annual employee survey.
· Analyze and recommend benefit programs, including health and welfare insurances. Coordinate with benefit brokers to implement employee benefits programs. Administers benefit changes and educate company personnel on the changes.
· Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
· Retains historical and current human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system.
· Cultivates professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of labor law, recruiting and best practices.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required
· 5 years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles
· 3 years of experience in Employee Relations
· 3 years of experience in a supervisory role
Job Location:
This position report will report to both the Warehouse location in Paw Paw, MI and the office location in Mattawan, MI.
