Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer

Job Summary
Seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer with strong manufacturing and industrial automation experience to lead electrical engineering activities for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and modification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering activities for manufacturing equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot PLC, PC-based controls, machine controls, analog/digital I/O, and control systems.
- Develop and modify PLC/control software and industrial automation systems.
- Manage project plans, schedules, timelines, safety, and quality requirements.
- Work with system integrators, machine builders, technicians, maintenance teams, and contractors.
- Review and modify electrical drawings, schematics, machine specifications, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate equipment compatibility and redesign electrical components when required.
- Procure and expedite materials for equipment installations.
- Provide technical training to technicians and contractors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years of manufacturing or related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of electrical power systems up to 480VAC.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and controls.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and safety focus.
Preferred Skills
- PLC / PC-based control systems
- Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or B&R PLC/Motion Control
- SCADA / HMI
- AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
- PID control and industrial automation
- Electro-mechanical systems
- PLC code development
- NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA knowledge
- Project scope, budgeting, and scheduling
- Optical fiber manufacturing experience
Work Environment & Travel
- Primarily onsite in a manufacturing/plant environment.
- Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
- Occasional adjusted hours and weekends may be required.
- Travel is required, including travel to manufacturing sites in North Carolina and potentially international locations.
- Role requires hands-on interaction with industrial equipment and plant-floor activities.
