Job Description
Role Overview
The EHS Specialist is responsible for identifying workplace risks, preventing injuries and illnesses, promoting a proactive safety culture, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role partners closely with operations and cross-functional teams to deliver training, conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Experience identifying workplace risks, preventing injuries and illnesses, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Strong communication and safety training experience.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and provide safety leadership without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable state regulations.
- Experience with data analysis, safety metrics, and reporting.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and making risk-based decisions.
- Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with 3 years of relevant EHS experience.
- OSHA training credentials.
- Experience in risk management, global EHS programs, laboratory safety, manufacturing/operations, or construction safety.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- 30% Problem solving, root cause analysis, and decision making
- 20% Employee training and safety education
- 20% Cross-functional meetings and collaboration
- 15% Safety inspections, audits, and Gemba/GO-DO observations
- 15% Safety communications and awareness initiatives
