Job Description
Position will be for WKND SHIFT: 6pm – 6.30am
Contract is through 02/28/2027
Weekend Nights (1:30pm to midnight)
Primary Duties / Purpose
Performs routine environmental monitoring, critical utilities sampling, and microbiological assays on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to support quality and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform environmental monitoring, sampling activities, and microbiological assays requiring precise analytical skills and a strong understanding of microbiology principles with minimal supervision.
- Utilize laboratory instrumentation and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to collect, record, and manage analytical data.
- Conduct microbiological and analytical testing in accordance with aseptic techniques and established laboratory procedures.
- Complete all testing and sampling activities accurately and within established timelines.
- Maintain data integrity while ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), FDA regulations, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Quality System Regulations (QSR), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Participate in laboratory and safety audits as required.
- Perform wet chemistry and instrumental analytical methods.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and supplies necessary for routine testing and sampling.
- Apply advanced laboratory techniques and basic statistical methods to analyze results.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve routine laboratory problems.
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and cross-functional teams through verbal and written communication.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including but not limited to:
- Autoclaves
- Incubators
- Analytical laboratory instruments
- Perform mathematical calculations using both metric and U.S. standard measurement systems.
- Read, interpret, and follow detailed laboratory procedures and written instructions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and other operational excellence programs.
- Follow established chemical and biological safety procedures.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for documentation and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related scientific discipline with coursework in Analytical Chemistry and/or Microbiology.
- 0–2 years of laboratory experience in microbiology, analytical chemistry, or a related quality laboratory environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of microbiological laboratory techniques and aseptic practices.
- Experience working with laboratory instrumentation and LIMS is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Supervision & Decision Authority
- Works under minimal to general supervision while following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Generates accurate laboratory results and identifies deviations from established procedures or quality requirements.
- Refers non-routine issues, out-of-specification (OOS), or out-of-limit (OOL) results to supervisors or senior laboratory personnel.
- Escalates laboratory excursions and complex issues according to established procedures.
