Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – Acute Care Hospital
Location: Pomona, CA
Schedule: Full‐Time | Temp‐to‐Perm (13‐Week Contract → Permanent Hire Consideration Required)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our hospital‐based acute care teamin Pomona, CA. This role supports adult patients across critical care, med‐surg, and trauma units. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast‐paced acute‐care environment.
This is a Temp‐to‐Perm opportunity — candidates must be open to accepting a permanent position following the initial 13‐week contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‐quality physical therapy interventions under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Deliver care to adult acute‐care patients, including those in critical care, med‐surg, and trauma units
- Assist with patient mobility, therapeutic exercises, functional training, and safe patient handling
- Document all patient care activities accurately and in compliance with hospital standards
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support safe and effective patient progression
- Communicate patient status, barriers, and progress to the supervising PT and care team
Required Qualifications
- Active California Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license
- BLS certification (current)
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program
- 1 year of experience in hospital‐based acute care working with adult populations
- Ability to work confidently in critical care, med‐surg, and trauma environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a large acute‐care or trauma hospital
- Strong understanding of hospital mobility protocols and early mobility programs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Contract Details
- 13‐week contract with required willingness to transition to permanent hire
