Job Summary
Quest International is hiring a Field Service Engineer to support medical imaging systems and industrial electromechanical equipment across the Chicago region.
This is a hands-on, field-based role supporting hospitals and industrial customers. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of complex electromechanical systems while working independently in customer environments.
This role is ideal for technicians with real field service experience who are comfortable traveling, working autonomously, and communicating professionally with customers.
Essential Job Functions
Install, maintain, and repair medical and industrial electromechanical equipment
Perform troubleshooting to the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) level
Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective service calls
Use diagnostic tools including:
Digital multimeter
Pressure/vacuum meters
Frequency counters
Service equipment with complex wiring harnesses and sensitive electronic components
Communicate directly with customers in hospital and industrial environments
Accurately document service activity, repairs, and parts usage
Manage daily travel, routing, and service priorities
Participate in remote or phone-based technical support when required
Assist with parts coordination and service logistics as needed
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of field service, maintenance, or hands-on technical repair experience
Proven electromechanical troubleshooting capability
Experience servicing electro-mechanical equipment
Hands-on use of diagnostic tools (not theoretical knowledge)
Ability to travel extensively (80% local, 20% out-of-state)
Strong professional communication skills for customer-facing environments
Strong documentation and reporting habits
Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs unassisted
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with medical devices, imaging systems, or industrial equipment
Component-level mechanical or electrical repair experience
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs
Exposure to basic networking or system connectivity
Experience working in hospital or regulated environments
Compensation
$24.00–$29.00 per hour (DOE)
Annualized range: $49,920–$60,320
