ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Major Duties/Critical Tasks (Employee may perform any or all the following tasks, depending on the size of the district office)
- Groups shipping tickets by delivery location and assigns truck drivers to make deliveries
- Frequent interaction with truck drivers, customer representatives, and office support staff
- Contacts drivers to check on location or to relay messages
- Schedules vehicle testing, inspection, and maintenance
- Monitors product inventories daily
- Prepares fuel and mileage reports
- Participates in drills, safety meetings and training classes
- Creates and closes work orders
- Negotiates rates with local vendors
- Supervises truck drivers
- Enforces compliance with regulations and Company policies
- “On call” duty may be required
- Other duties as assigned

Attendance:
- Dispatchers are expected to report to work on time and to work overtime or irregular hours, as needed, to meet customer needs
- General Company policies, such as those regarding attendance, sick leave, vacation, and leaves of absence apply
Knowledge of:
- Safe handling procedures for hazardous materials
- Safe work practices
- S. Department of Transportation regulations covering drivers and the shipping of hazardous materials
Skill in:
- Basic mathematics, such as addition and subtraction of fractions or decimals
Ability to:
- Read and understand shipping tickets and training materials
- Work out-of-doors
- Wear required safety equipment
- Provide quick reaction or immediate response to required situations
- Cooperate and get along with co-workers and customer representatives
- Prepare driver’s logs and other reports and forms
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years’ trucking and dispatching experience Required
- Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements Required
- Two years’ experience with hauling tractor trailer tanker experience Required
- Ability to work overtime Required
- Pre-employment testing, drug screen and physical exam Required
- Knowledge of DOT and FMSCA regulations
- Reliable transportation
