Job Summary: The Provincetown Schools seek a reliable, safety-minded, and compassionate driver to transport one pupil from Provincetown to a specialized educational program in a neighboring Cape Cod community. This is a school year position, plus up to 6 weeks in the summer months. Job Responsibilities: Operate a dedicated, school-provided passenger van (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating under 10,000 lbs, maximum 10-passenger capacity). Operation includes 2 daily trips transporting one student from Provincetown to Brewster (am run) and from Brewster to Provincetown (pm run).Key Responsibilities: Safely operate a designated 7D pupil transport vehicle on morning and afternoon routes, maintaining absolute focus on the road and student safety.Candidates must be physically able to assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle as required by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Ensure a calm, structured, and positive environment inside the vehicle.Maintain cleanliness of vehicle Ensure the vehicle is fueled as neededCoordinate inspections and routine maintenanceCompliance & Safety Inspections: Conduct mandatory daily pre-trip vehicle inspections Maintain on-board safety equipmentAdhere strictly to the Mass RMV child reminder protocols, physically checking all seats at the end of every route to ensure no student is left behind.Promptly document and report any student behavioral incidents, route delays, or mechanical concerns through the proper school channels. Salary and Work Schedule: Part-time positionThis position is compensated with an annual salary of $22,000 and is paid for 20 hours per week during the 180-day school year. This position is a morning run (6:50 am - 8:30 am) and an afternoon run (12:50 pm - 2:30pm). The 20 hours includes a buffer for unexpected traffic.Additional assignments (maintenance and inspections) and runs beyond the regular schedule may be available and compensated at an hourly rate from $30 - $45 per hour.The district will reimburse you for costs associated with obtaining 7D (exam, license renewal)This position is not eligible for benefits.Provincetown Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
