Provincetown IB World Schools serves students in PreK–Grade 8 as the only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School system on the Outer Cape. We seek an innovative, student-centered Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty and inspire learners in Grades 6–8 through the IB Middle Years Program (MYP).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Appropriate Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Mathematics
- Strong understanding of mathematics content, pedagogy, and differentiated instruction
- Demonstrated success teaching mathematics in a classroom setting
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic school environment
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching
- Experience with or willingness to learn the International Baccalaureate framework preferred
- Experience with project-based, inquiry-based, or concept-driven instruction preferred
Job Goals and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction aligned to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
- Create concept-driven units that promote inquiry, problem-solving, reasoning, and real-world application
- Foster student agency, perseverance, and confidence in mathematics
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with IEPs, English learners, and students requiring intervention or enrichment
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and guide instruction
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies to deepen learning
- Promote the IB Learner Profile by developing students who are thinkers, communicators, principled, reflective, and open-minded
- Encourage international-mindedness and connections between mathematics and global contexts
- Support students in becoming independent learners and ethical users of information
- Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels and disciplines to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences
- Participate in professional learning, curriculum development, and school improvement initiatives
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and learning goals
- Contribute positively to the life of the school through events, committees, and community engagement
- Support advisory, enrichment, or extracurricular opportunities as assigned
- Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grading, and student progress
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Uphold all district policies, procedures, and professional expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Terms of Employment:
In accordance with the teacher work year and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Evaluation:
Reports to Principal, Assistant Principal
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies, the educator evaluation system, and collective bargaining agreements.
