Our client, an expanding California law firm, is seeking a Senior Employment Law Attorney to join their Plaintiff-side Employment Law team. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with deep expertise in California employment law who can independently manage complex litigation matters, including single-plaintiff and class action cases, from intake through resolution. Responsibilties
- Independently manage a full caseload of employment law matters from inception to trial or settlement
- Conduct all aspects of litigation, including:
- Case evaluation and strategy development
- Drafting and responding to pleadings
- Discovery, including written discovery, meet and confers, and motions to compel
- Depositions (taking and defending)
- Law and motion practice (demurrers, motions to dismiss, MSJs, MSAs)
- Court appearances and hearings
- Handle class action and representative actions, including wage and hour, PAGA, and related claims
- Lead mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff while maintaining ownership of assigned matters
- Ensure compliance with all ethical and professional standards under California law
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active license in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Minimum of 5 years of continuous employment law litigation experience (plaintiff-side preferred)
- Proven experience handling full-cycle employment litigation, including class action/PAGA matters
- Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, FEHA, FLSA, and related statutes
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload, and work autonomously
- Trial experience or significant trial preparation experience
- Experience on both plaintiff-side and defense-side employment litigation
- Familiarity with Los Angeles and California state courts
