The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering the development of a strong, collaborative clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Resident Care
- Oversee all nursing services and resident care delivery
- Ensure individualized care plans are implemented effectively
- Conduct resident rounds, care conferences, and oversee admissions/discharges
- Maintain resident safety, rights, and confidentiality
- Lead infection control and safety initiatives
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Oversee MDS, Medicare/Medicaid documentation, and submissions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports
- Address and resolve compliance issues proactively
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and team supervision
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching/mentorship
- Lead staff meetings and training programs
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Develop and update nursing policies and procedures
- Manage departmental budgets and resource allocation
- Oversee purchasing of nursing supplies and equipment
- Collaborate with leadership to support organizational goals
Required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License (New Jersey)
- Minimum 3-5 years of DON or nursing leadership experience in long-term care
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- BSN required, Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
- Prior experience as Director of Nursing or Assistant DON in a nursing home setting
