Job Roles And Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings and specifications to develop project scope and quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including conceptual budgets and full construction estimates.
- Solicit, compare, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Assist in proposal preparation and bid submission processes.
- Support value engineering efforts and recommend cost-saving solutions.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions, risks, and project requirements.
- Track market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure accurate pricing.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the estimating process.
- Assist with preconstruction activities including procurement and scheduling.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in residential or light commercial projects.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost factors.
- Proficiency in Excel, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar estimating tools.
- Understanding of contract administration and negotiation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
