The BIM Coordinator is responsible for supporting the creation, evaluation, and distribution of 3D BIM and 2D drawings used in estimating, purchasing, and construction operations. This role collaborates with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the project lifecycle. The position also involves managing BIM models, supporting documentation processes, and assisting with project coordination activities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Job Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and coordinate 3D BIM models and 2D drawings for construction projects.
- Maintain integration of architectural, structural, and MEP system models.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and BIM service providers.
- Update as-built models, BIM logs, and project documentation.
- Assist in uploading, maintaining, and distributing project documents to teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain control logs including RFIs, shop drawings, and drawing logs.
- Participate in model coordination meetings and resolve coordination issues.
- Conduct site inspections and coordinate with trade contractors.
- Assist with fabrication-level models and approvals.
- Compile BIM closeout documentation for project completion.
- Work independently on complex assignments while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Associate degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or related field or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of project coordination or BIM coordination experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and BIM coordination tools.
- Working knowledge of Revit and related BIM software.
- Experience in project coordination within construction environments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
