Position Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting Contract Senior Mechanical Engineer opportunity located in Bellevue, WA.

Job Description:

• This role supports a new development program, requiring a leader who can architect early-stage products and manage system integration heavy lifting.
  
  
  

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production for a new development program.
• Architect hardware solutions and drive system integration as a primary lead during early-stage product development.
• Partner across engineering, manufacturing, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize project requirements.
• Design and optimize mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, considering material selection, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings with proper geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Perform simulations to analyze structural, thermal, and vibration effects under multiple loading scenarios.
• Develop mechanical test plans, including qualification plans and acceptance criteria for volume production.
• Conduct root cause analyses and implement mitigation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners.
  
  
  

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 7 years of experience in mechanical design and development of consumer, industrial, or automotive electronics.
• Proven experience leading and architecting early-stage products independently.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CREO, or similar).
• Strong understanding of production manufacturing processes (injection molding, die casting, sheet metal).
• Experience developing functional specifications, design validation plans, and functional test procedures.
  
  
  

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with prototyping techniques to enable test platforms and validate design concepts.
• Proficiency with FEA simulation tools for thermal and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards.
  
  
  

Job Details:

• Job Type: Contract
• Location: Bellevue, WA (Onsite).
• Pay Rate Range: $95-125/hr.
