Position Title: Radioactive Material Transport Engineer
Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Radioactive Material Transport Engineer opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the development of the nuclear packaging and transportation program to ensure of equipment and services readiness in compliance with reactor's schedule needs, including:
- Packaging-related activities:
- Participate in design, procedure, and test reviewsEnsure that schedules related to shipping containers are maintained
- Develop specifications and testing documentation
- Help ensure compliance with 10CFR 71 and 49 CFR regulations
- Support Company 10 CFR50 QA program in all packaging-related activities
- Support onsite oversight during fabrication of shipping containers, as needed
- Interface with the teams from Company and various companies for the use of the shipping containers
- Interface with the teams from Company and various companies through design, testing, licensing and fabrication of the shipping containers
- Interface with Procurement and Contract Administrators from procurement through delivery of the shipping containers
- Evaluate packaging needs based on different reactor scenarios to ensure that equipment will be available to support reactor operations
- Transportation-related activities:
- Assist in development of Company's strategy for procurement of transportation services in collaboration with procurement and other stakeholders
- Participate actively in the Company nuclear material transportation risk management plan
- Support the development of safety and security transportation procedures in compliance with Class 7 regulations
- Act as the Company point of contact for all technical aspects related to nuclear material packaging and transportation
- Influence Company's development of a fleet logistics program to support scaling of reactor deployment.
- Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred, but degrees in other disciplines will be considered.
- Candidate should have 2-10 years of engineering experience.
- Familiarity with nuclear industry and terminology from experience with a nuclear logistics provider, commercial nuclear power station, fuel fabricator, National Lab, US Navy Nuclear program, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret regulations from multiple government entities having purview over shipment of radioactive materials.
- Familiarity with hazardous material transport truck transport, especially Class 7 materials, is desirable.
- Familiarity with nuclear fuel fabrication, shipping container design and fabrication, and/or transportation of radioactive materials is desirable.
- Familiarity with austenitic steel fabrication.
- Comfortable working with Regulatory Guides.
- Ability to critically evaluate detailed engineering models and drawings.
- Ability to write high-quality documents such as engineering documents, transportation guides and procedures, risk management plans, etc.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week with a distributed team.
- Travel Required: 0-5%.

- Pay Rate Range: $37 -$74/hr (Pay rates are approved based on candidate location, education and experience)
- Location: Bellevue, WA or 100% Remote Acceptable
- Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status
