They are firm that values innovative thinking and an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex infrastructure challenges.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design Leadership: Lead electrical engineering design for utility-scale BESS, solar PV, and DER projects, ensuring all deliverables remain within specified budget and schedule.
- Technical Evaluation: Direct and conduct technical evaluations of electrical systems and control systems; prepare high-level design computations and assessments.
- System Modeling: Utilize ETAP and other simulation tools to perform steady-state power flow, short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, and protection coordination studies.
- Grid Stability: Conduct dynamic and transient stability simulations for grid-connected renewable and storage systems, validating models against manufacturer data.
- Project Lifecycle: Bring projects from the design stage through to completion, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams regarding RFIs, submittals, and contract modifications.
- Client & Utility Interaction: Work directly with clients and utilities (ISO/RTOs) to manage Grid Interconnection (GIA) documentation and permitting submittals. In addition, this person will have opportunity and responsibility to develop new work and clients related to electrical engineering services for utility and C&I clients.
- Innovation & Analysis: Analyze systems to identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs, utilizing financial metrics and data analytics to derive the best engineering solutions.
- Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers and other engineering departments to troubleshoot problems and coordinate technical writing for reports and correspondence.
- Experience: 5-10 years of progressive, verifiable professional experience in electrical power systems (Renewable Energy, Utility, or C&I experience preferred).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) License is required or ability to acquire within 6 months.
- Technical Software: Proficiency in ETAP or SKM is required; expert proficiency in design and plan production using AutoCAD or Revit is essential.
- Industry Standards: Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NESC, IEEE, and UL standards.
- Grid Knowledge: Familiarity with grid integration requirements, transmission planning, and NERC/FERC reliability standards.
- Interdisciplinary Mindset: Familiarity with MEP work for buildings and a desire to work across different engineering disciplines.
- Communication: Ability to think "outside the box," come up with creative ideas, and present them effectively to teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Logistics: Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal record check.
